Consultation:
So be aware that you may call the Employee and Family Resource (EFR) number yourself for consultation to help you think through your options in managing a difficult employee situation: 877-275-6226, option 3. It’s totally confidential and you will speak to an experienced EAP workplace consultant. Their job is to make your job easier.
Referral:
You can always refer an employee to the EFR. Click here for a chart that shows the progression from an Informal Referral to a Formal Referral to a Mandatory Referral. The goal is to motivate an employee who could benefit from some objective, professional help as early as possible. Here are some key points to tell employees whenever you make a referral:
- The EFR is totally confidential, YNHHS gets no names or any information from Carelon Behavioral Health, our external EFR/EAP provider.
- Services are free.
- Up to six sessions are provided per problem, per year.
- Family household members may use the EFR.
- All employees regardless of status may use the EFR.
- Click here for an EFR brochure.
Training:
Maybe you would like some training for your team on stress, change, interpersonal conflict or work-life balance. This does not take the place of what the Institute for Excellence (IFE) can offer so check with them first. Click here for a catalog of offerings from the EFR
Critical Incident Response (CIR):
When a traumatic or critical event occurs, as a manager you may call the EFR for fast, professional, onsite counseling and debriefing. When should you call for assistance? Anytime, day or night, the EFR toll-free number is answered 24/7/365. Basically any event that is emotionally overwhelming can qualify for assistance Click here for some questions to ask yourself. If you’re not sure, just call for a consultation.
